This is split into 3 terms:- September to Christmas, Christmas to Easter and  Easter to July.  Each term is divided by a week's half term holiday, dates vary depending on where Easter falls.                          Payments can be paid half termly - (6 payments over the year) or                   termly -(3 payments over the year)
  • My child has 2yr old funding and is already at another setting; Can I move my child and transfer my funding over to Little Tanglewood?                              Unfortunately you are unable to transfer any 2yr old funding from one setting to another. You can stay on the Tanglewood waiting list for a place in the nursery where we will be able to take your 3yr old when a place becomes available.
  • Can I change my session days each week?                                           Once you have been offered and accepted weekly sessions you need to keep these days and times for the term, you may ask for changes at the end of each term but this depends on availability.
  • How many children will be in each session?                                          There could be up to 20 children in each session with a ratio of 1 adult (qualified nursery nurses) to 4 children.
  • Are children separated by age within Little Tanglewood?                             All of our children in Little Tanglewood are aged two to three yrs and play together.
  • My child normally has a sleep but has been offered an afternoon session; do you have a rest area?                                                                       Our parents tell us that if their children were having a sleep when they started nursery within 2-3 weeks they had totally adapted and found that their child was ready for bed a little earlier so just adjusted teatime and bath time.  On occasions in the beginning we have children fall asleep and the younger children may still need a rest. This is not a problem as we have a snuggly corner if they need to rest and sleep.
  • I have been offered an afternoon place but I have other children at school and need to pick them up in the afternoons; is this a problem?                           Our parents find that being able to pick older siblings up first is a huge advantage as you can all come along after the school run to pick the nursery children up at 3.45pm
  • Do the children play outside each day?                                                We go outside daily in all weathers so always send appropriate clothes including a raincoat and velcro shoes so that the children can start to be independent when changing into their wellies.                                                             Please bring in a named pair of wellies to leave at Little Tanglewood for your child.
  •  Will I get Newsletters and event reminders sent home?                       We try to be as environmentally friendly as possible and send out most of our letters paperless using Ourschoolapp.  This is an app that you download to your mobile phone or tablet and notifications are sent when a new letter is sent home. Letters always get sent home under the News Icon.  - click here to see how to download the app:    You will see a copy of the letter on our notice board out the front or outside the classroom.
  • Can I park in the car park at Tanglewood?                                           Sorry parents and carers are unable to use the staff carpark as it is shared with Parkwood Academy and very small. Access is needed at all times for emergency vehicles to enter both schools and staff come and go at all times during the day. If you see children in the carpark they are with a designated taxi escort assigned to Rainbow room. our speech and language unit. There is ample parking in the roads surrounding the nursery or you can park in the Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre by the flats and walk down.
  • Can my child attend nursery if they are on antibiotics?                                If your child is prescribed antibiotics they may return to nursery 48 hours after the first dose providing you feel they are well enough to come.
  • My child had sickness and diarrhoea yesterday but is ok now; can I bring them to nursery?                                                                                    If your child has been sick or had diarrhoea we ask that you keep them at home for 48 hours from the last time they vomited or had loose stools.  This prevents any bug passing through the school and makes sure your child is well enough to be here.
  • My child has developed chicken pox, can they come to nursery?                     If your child has chicken pox, NHS and Essex County Council guidance say children should stay away from nursery until all the spots have scabbed over which is usually around 5 days. Tanglewood recommend making sure hands and face are clear of spots to stop the risk of a secondary infection which can be extremely nasty and risks hospitalising your child.

If you are pregnant and have NOT had chickenpox and your own child catches it, please seek medical advice from your Dr on how to manage the situation.
